I won't be doing more intensive testing until this weekend unless it fails in between
Do you have the "Quick start" setting enabled?

If not I wonder if turning this on would allow you to turn on/off the NSZ-GS7?

Leaving quickstart on should be almost the same as leaving the unit on.

The benefit of Quick start on is you can control the TV even when the GS7 is turned off and it takes very little time for the menu to appear...

    Congrats.

It seems like you’ve had two HDMI-handshake issues,
    • One issue, with Sony’s “BRAVIA Sync” (HDMI-CEC) and you’ve solve it by replacing the old cables with new high-speed hdmi cables.
    • The second issue, with the Uverse-DVR HDCP-authentication and you’ve solve it by keeping the GS7 “On” when the TV turned “Off” (& replacing hdmi cables).

    Enjoy your entertainment HTS

I have to give Sony a A+ for effort in trying to solve this. I sent an email to support and continued on with my testing based on solutions provided here. I am not around my TV very often when support is open so I wanted to do it via email and after a few emails they wanted me to call them. As I didn't call them they called me 3 times with a case number asking me to call back, then I received another call today checking to make sure it was solved. Although I never called Logitech support I appreciate how proactive Sony is. I did call them back and let them know hwat worked.

    A-
